The ORIGINAL Los Angeles Angels... They began in 1903 and were purchased in 1921 by William K. Wrigley, Jr., who built a 21,000-seat replica of Chicago's historic structure--the finest stadium in the minor leagues. They played there through 1957. The Los Angeles Angels AL-expansion team played their inaugural season in LA's Wrigley Field in 1961.
Lee, as for my "Flatbush" theme, I am torn between the Pirates and the Dodgers. Oddly, there WAS a connection back in the 50s -- Branch Rickey. Other than that, I was born in California, and the 1988 LA Dodgers hold a special place in my heart, for psychological reasons.
The Angels are my adopted team. Since moving west, I've found there isn't much of a market for broadcasting Marlins games. So unless they play Atlanta and I get to watch them on TBS or the 2-times a year where they play the Dodgers and it's televised, I'm pretty much out of luck. Being a NL team, I could not root for the Dodgers, so I've taken on the Angels (and the relative ease of catching their games on TV) as my adopted 2nd team (even 2912 miles away, the Marlins still hold the highest seat).
The halos are having a good season so far, eh? Looks great!
